Cable New Twitter Ratings for Wednesday, July 9, 2014 — Border Crisis delivers high ratings across the board.

Wednesday was all Hannity — best hour and best day.  But what’s really interesting is that both the Fox and MSNBC shows were lit up on Twitter like a christmas tree plugged into a 240 volt line.  From the analysis of topics discussed, we can see that the border situation was driving both the left- and right-wing media.

In the 9pm slot, for example, both The Kelly File and The Rachel Maddow show got around 2K mentions during the slot and around 5K mentions throughout the day.  Other POV shows managed similarly large results.

CNN, on the other hand, did not benefit from the uptick in Twitter conversations.  This suggests a couple of things.  First, the conversation was deeply partisan.  Second, there’s little “real news” in the sense that nothing’s changing in the on the ground situation.  All in all, this tells you what people really care about …

Cable News Twitter Ratings for Sunday, July 6, 2014 — Melissa Harris-Perry dominates

A strong day on Sunday for The Melissa Harris-Perry show, with mentions returning to a non-holiday level and giving her the best hour.  Meet The Press, which is rebroadcast on MSNBC, had the best day overall, but if you don’t want to include it in the list then The Melissa Harris-Perry show had the best day as well.
