Melissa Harris-Perry tops Cable News Twitter on Sunday, 4/12/15

A bit of a stronger day on Sunday for Melissa Harris-Perry, and so she wins the best hour in Cable News Twitter. Hers was the only show to get over 1000 mentions per hour (and did so for both hours she was on the air).  Harris-Perry was followed by both hours of Up, the Meet the Press re-run on MSNBC, and Sunday Morning Futures on Fox (who knew they were that popular?)

Cashin’ In wins Cable News Twitter on a quiet Saturday (4/11/15)

It’s the tail end of spring break, and so it was a bit quiet in Twitter land on Saturday. Hillary had yet to announce. Tourists were still clogging the roads here in Florida.  And Cashin’ In won Saturday, as always, but on the low end of its typical range of mentions.  You can tell how slow the day was for everyone as only one other show managed to top 1000 mentions during an hour — the 11am hour of The Melissa Harris-Perry Show.  The average show (that I tracked) was more around 200 mentions during its hour.

There was a sort of Twitter dopplegänger on Saturday as well; Eric Bolling had hosted The O’Reilly Factor on Friday, and so Saturday Morning he reappeared, in Bill’s seat, at 4am. This lead to a bump in The Factor’s mentions during that 4am hour (I included both the with and without Bolling counts), and gave The Factor a huge daily score because it’s impossible to mechanically tell Cashin’ In tweets apart from those that are in reaction to Bolling hosting The Factor.  Between Friday and Saturday, the social media team at The Factor must have felt like a magnitude 8 earthquake had hit them.
