The topics for Memorial Day were … memorial day (no surprise), UniteBlue’s ongoing feud with Morning Joe Scarborough, and some remnants of CNN’s blackfish…
A few days ago, the Morning Joe show made some unfavorable comments about the group UniteBlue. That has provoked a reaction from the group’s members on Twitter. What’s interesting is that, normally, the conservative hashtag #tcot dominates cable news Twitter (it’s short, and conservatives use it everywhere), but for the past few days #uniteblue has dominated it.
On Sunday, the last showing of CNN’s Blackfish took place, and the hashtag for that documentary took first place, but, still, three UniteBlue related hashtags landed near the top (2nd, 3rd, 5th), with #tcot stuck in sixth place.
Even though the Melissa Harris-Perry Show managed to surpass Blackfish in the Twitter ratings, #Blackfish was still the dominant topic overall in cable news Twitter. Sunday is the last day of scheduled showings on CNN, who then moves into endless repeats of “The Sixties” towards the end of the week. I guess we’ll see if #groovy becomes the new hot hashtag.
NB: Data updated Monday at 5pm EDT with corrections.
Yes, everyone is still talking about the Blackfish documentary on CNN. Personally, I prefer my tales about whales more like this:
There you have it. #Blackfish is the most talked about topic. CNN is the most talked about network. All for a re-run.
