Cable News Trending Topics for 2014-04-01

Well, dang. I would have thought Monday’s Colbert Report put the whole cancel Colbert things to rest, but I guess not: Colbert had the best (half-) hour, best day, and top hashtag.

Something else that’s  interesting — the three main cable news networks had almost exactly the same number of mentions, with MSNBC coming out on top (on, I presume, the strength of the news about the Affordable Care Act).

Trending Topics in Cable News for Monday, March 31, 2014

Cable News Trending Topics for 2014-03-31

Although a lot of cable news shows seemed focused on the deadline to sign up for the affordable care act, the twitteratti pretty much shrugged it off, with tweets about the missing Malaysia Airlines flight still out-numbering ACA related ones.  Clearly, the right is failing to generate new outrage while the left is failing to generate new excitement on the subject.

I suspect that, absent any new news, the ACA is going to have a long slide into obscurity, especially if some new outrage can be found.

Cable News Trending Topics for 2014-03-29

Not a lot of stand-out topics for Saturday, as the news was rather quiet around the world…

A couple of interesting observations:  CNN’s mentioners were the most-male of any network, around 3-to-1.  E! News is almost exactly the opposite.  And with Piers Morgan now fading away from CNN, it will be interesting to see if the mentions of UK soccer start to disappear from cable news Twitter…
