Discussion about the border was no where near as a dominant in cable news Twitter on Friday as it had been the days before. A diversity of topics held court, including Bill Maher’s “Flip a district”, the border (still strong), and the situation in Israel/Gaza Strip.
Once again the border situation was driving the talk on cable news Twitter, but on Thursday the conversation died down a bit on MSNBC while it skyrocketed on Fox News. Even CNN managed to do really well.
I want to point out the “Reach” for CNN, at 558,027,720. This means that, on Thursday, there were over a half a billion opportunities for people to see tweets that mentioned CNN, its shows, and/or its hosts. That doesn’t mean that a half-billion people saw the messages, or that the tweets were seen a half-billion times (clearly, they weren’t), but that it’s pretty darn likely that if you pay attention to current events on Twitter you saw a message mentioning CNN go by …
On Wednesday, the situation on the border was all that people were talking about with President Obama’s trip to Texas and meeting with Governor Perry driving the news.
Bill Maher’s “Flip a district” (where he plans on trying to oust a sitting congressperson) managed to dominate cable news Twitter’s topics on Tuesday, with conversation about the border also being strong.
