The Kelly File and Hannity won best hour and day, respectively, on Thursday’s Cable News Twitter. MSNBC’s prime time lineup from Chris Hayes through Lawrence O’Donnell did reasonably well. That’s not unusual for Hayes and Maddow, but a little bit unusual for O’Donnell, giving his week a bit of a flourish at the end. Greta van Susteren also had a fairly decent day.
Cable News Trending Topics for 2014-08-27
The top trending topics on Wednesday were ISIS, Gaza, the Uzi accident, and Ferguson, somewhat roughly in that order. This is an inflection point for Ferguson, and it will be interesting to see if it drops further in media coverage now that there appears to be no new news on the horizon for a while.
I see that Fox News has a new Benghazi special coming up on the 5th. It will be interesting to see if that manages to pop that topic back up in the twitterverse…
Wednesday was a strong day for Sean Hannity, as he had the best hour and best day on Twitter of any Cable News show. The Kelly File and All In with Chris Hayes also had strong hours.

ISIS (ISIL, or IS, I guess) was the top topic in Cable News Twitter on Tuesday. This is the first time that Ferguson was not in the top slot in a long time.
Normalcy, or at least a form of it, returned on Tuesday, as The Kelly File won best hour and Hannity won best day on Cable News Twitter.
